Since then I have always given a prophylactic injection whenever I am performing any operation which is likely to be attended by severe bleeding or oozing. In the last eight cases of labour which I have conducted, I have given this injection into the buttock about ten minutes before the expected birth of the child. In every case the amount of blood which has been lost has been extraordinarily small, and I am so impressed with this fact that I venture to give this experience to the profession through the columns of your journal.
